From Pinerolo to Turin… by bike!
You stay at the Hotel Barrage, you feel super-fit, you enjoy outdoor and cycling, maybe it’s also an “ecological Sunday”, the first autumn days fresh but still warm from the late summer sunshine seem like a moment best for a get-out trip. So why not take advantage of the bike ride we suggest (and if you do not have a bike, or an e-bike, we rent it for you)? From Pinerolo to Turin… by bike!
The route is flat and not particularly challenging, but it is 39.3 kilometers in 2 hours and 48 minutes, so it’s best to start riding right after you take advantage of our buffet breakfast.
Let’s start from our Hotel pedalling to the Pinerolo old town, where you can quickly cross between the streets, meeting some of the beauties of our city: the Palace of the Acaja Princes, the Cathedral of Saint Donato, the house of Silvio Pellico, the places where Edmondo De Amicis wrote “At the gates of Italy”. Then leaving the city center, a stage at the Cavalry Museum, the symbol of the city.
Now you will start getting more and more out of the center and, little by little, you will enter into the countryside that separates us from the county seat: you will relax by breathing the pure air of Riva, Piscina and None, admiring the autumn colors that are spectacular at this time. Between wheat reaped field, hay bales and sunflower sweeps that stand against a blue sky. And here you can take all the breaks you want to photograph the landscape and photograph yourself as a testimony of your “challenge”.
From here you will soon lose yourself in the Stupinigi Natural Park, surrounded by groves, irregular meadows and ancient farms. Until arriving at the Hunting House, a monumental jewel designed by Juvarra in rococo style, with its cross arms that will call you to the entrance. It is time to move close to Turin, along the tree-lined avenue that lines the farmhouses and the stable.
You continue on a path that ideally connects the building to the city center with a straight line, made of long tree-lined avenues to the historic Porta Nuova station. You have just arrived at the end of your work, you only have to go through via Roma with its elegant arcades, go across Piazza San Carlo and you will soon find yourself in Piazza Castello, a true nerve center in Turin, overlooking Palazzo Madama and Palazzo Reale.
