6 things to do in Pinerolo and surroundings… for free!
Pinerolo is rich in history, attractions, architectural and artistic beauties. There are several churches and museums to visit, but also a walk in the old city center can give you emotions in our beautiful city with a medieval taste.
If you have been following us for some time you will know that we often recommend where to go, what to visit, what to taste, which events to take part in. But this time we’ll talk about what to do in Pinerolo for free, without spending a penny!
Enjoy the view from the square of San Maurizio
After exploring the old city center of Pinerolo, you can climb along the suggestive Via Principi d’Acaja: you will reach the top of a hill, along a tree-lined avenue where you can also rest on comfortable benches in the shade. At the end you will arrive in the square of the Church of San Maurizio from where you will enjoy a magnificent view of the city and, on clearer days, you can even glimpse Turin. Surely it is the best view you can admire of Pinerolo and also the most romantic (and then even the church can be visited for free!).
Visit the Cathedral
In the heart of Pinerolo there is the Cathedral of San Donato, founded in 1024 in Romanesque style and then remodeled in gothic forms with details in terracotta inspired by the decorations of medieval buildings scattered throughout the city. The interior with three naves is entirely frescoed and you can also admire a painting by Pieter Paul Rubens: a little jewel to see absolutely!
Follow the apple road by bike
In 2009, by the will of the local administrators, with the support of the Province of Turin and the ATL, the Apple Road of Pinerolo area was inaugurated: a 63 km route crossing 15 municipalities of the Pinerolese hill and plain area, touching a hundred of agricultural producers. You will be fascinated by the warm autumn colors of orchards, the purity of the plowed land in winter, the spring blossoms and the scent of ripe fruit in the summer. You can taste fresh juices, fruit distillates and cider from over 40 varieties of apples. And to explore the territory more quickly, we recommend the bicycle: our favorite means of transportation in every season (and if you do not have one… we’ll hire it)!

We are already thinking about the summer to offer you this fun and refreshing trip. In Bobbio Pellice the torrent Guichard forms a series of “tumpi“: little pools of fresh water perfect for bathing and surrounded by rocks from which you can dive… real and natural pools! Mirrors of clear water where to find refreshment in the hottest days, without getting too far from our hotel, but enjoying at best a truly amazing natural beauty.
Discover an archaeological museum
The Caburrum Archaeological Museum in Cavour, illustrates the different aspects of human, prehistoric and historical occupation of the Rock and of the surrounding plain. In this small but special museum you will admire numerous objects, most of them coming from grave goods, but also from recently explored houses, and a wide lapidarium, including public and private inscriptions from the Roman age to the early Middle Ages. And this little jewel is free every first Sunday of the month.
